Chilled, Downtempo, Hip Hop Instrumental, Lo Fi beats we know as - Trip Hop
Originally derived from the UK in the early 90s. A raw style of grainy Hip Hop beats with melodic and often darker synth lines. Taking its lead and influences from a multiple of genres is probably why this genre resonates with me so much!
Why it means so much…
I was fortunate to go to Ibiza and rent an amazing villa with a group of fellow house DJs in 2018. I’ve been blessed enough to play in many amazing clubs and settings in many countries but my standalone favorite DJ set was to the smallest of all crowds.
After a long night on the island, a very long we all ended up back at our secluded villa to sleep it off. After a solid one hour sleep I was wide awake and heading to the DJ setup we had poolside for a little early morning spin.
A beautiful and silent morning apart from the very low tempo trip-hop I started playing. Over the coming 3 or 4 hours, I very steadily built the tempo as one by one my colleagues surface and made it poolside. What made this magical was the fact that nobody spoke, just knowing nobs of appreciation for the music. It was my perfect storm, the mixing, the music selection, the location and weather, and most importantly the brotherhood.
