This page is intended to be a journey of discovery. Say reggae to most general music lovers and the vision of a dreadlock-layden Bob Marley springs to mind. The uplifting vibe of the legend is about as far as most non-Jamaicans have ventured into the genre. For me, the word reggae conjures up visions on vast cobbled together ear-shattering sound systems projecting a raw but addictive vibe. For an instant pick me up or change of mood, there is no other music that can transform your demeanor quite so effectively as Reggae.
What I hope to learn with you is the variants and makeup of what we believe makes up the composition of what we know as reggae. There will also be a smattering of international music to help expand our knowledge and broaden our horizons.

Ernest Ranglin….enough said!
But I’ll still add my two penneth. Refusing to be pigeonholed this true legend created, composed and played everything from bebop to afrobeat to ska and Roots Reggae. Check out the Latin and even jazz influenced masterpiece, no lyrics required. The walking bassline takes you on a journey through a dicey Jamaican street! Enjoy this little gem.
Ronnie Davis – Beware of evil men
I first came across this track on a superb mix from Quantic on a boat in Paris for LeMellotron. Sunshine, relaxing on the water listening to this masterpiece. I hope you like this as much as I do, exactly how I see reggae (whether that is right or wrong).
